Meet Mac & Tami! The spotted salamander (Ambystoma maculatum) and eastern chipmunk (Tamias striatus) were selected by wilderness supporters, like you! as animal mascots for The Wilderness Center.

When we see chipmunks in our own backyards, we’re reminded of the acres of beautiful land that TWC’s maintains and protects to support wildlife.

The spotted salamander is Ohio’s state amphibian. They are active at night, especially during the springtime. They enjoy TWC’s many vernal pools and Wilderness Lake. These attributes make the spotted salamander a perfect representative for our dark skies initiatives and wetland conservation efforts.

Support TWC’s wildlife conservation and habitat restoration efforts when you symbolically adopt a TWC mascot, Eastern Chipmunk (Tami) or Spotted Salamander (Mac). We are pleased to offer 4 different ways that you can support wildlife conservation and habitat restoration by symbolically adopting 1 of these TWC Mascot Animals.

  • $25 Postcard & Magnet
  • $45 Postcard, Magnet, & T-Shirt
  • $55 Postcard, Magnet, & Individual TWC Membership
  • $75 Postcard, Magnet, T-Shirt, & Individual TWC Membership

Each Symbolic Animal Adoption comes with a randomly selected postcard of the species that you adopted. The animals featured on each postcard are from photos taken right here at TWC! Which postcard will you get?

When you symbolically adopt one of our animal mascots, you support wildlife conservation and habitat restoration. Thank you for helping give these animals and many others a wilderness home.

Symbolic animal adoption packages will be pick-up at The Wilderness Center only.
