Tackle the toughest invaders in one of our most diverse habitats. This project focuses on removing large invasive shrubs—primarily bush honeysuckle and autumn olive—from an upland area bordering the Brewster wetland complex. By cutting and hauling brush to designated piles, we’ll open the canopy, improve light availability, and give native understory plants the space they need to regenerate.
Clearing these aggressive species not only restores balance to the plant community but also enhances wildlife habitat, strengthens forest structure, and boosts the wetland’s overall ecological health. Every cut is a step toward safeguarding our region’s natural heritage—ensuring that the forests, wetlands, and wildlife we cherish remain healthy and vibrant for generations to come.
All tools and materials will be provided. Wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, and be ready for uneven ground and brushy conditions.
