Regenerative Healing and Native Medicinal Plants

Presented by Leah Wolfe

Take a walk with herbalist Leah Wolfe from the Trillium Center to learn about ethnobotany, folklore, and the medicinal uses of native plants, plus learn how herbalists consider regenerative techniques before choosing native or non-native plants.

In herbalism, working with native or non-native plants can quickly become controversial. In some cases, it makes sense to work with native plants; in other cases, it makes sense to use non-native plants. Bioregional herbalism is growing and focuses on working with plants within a region – native or not – instead of importing expensive supplements or medicinal plants cultivated in faraway lands.

Biography: Leah is the archetypal herbalist living at the edge of town with all the weird plants. Leah travels all over the continent learning about healing plants from many teachers. In 2013, Leah started the Trillium Center, an educational project offering hands-on and online experiences in herbalism, foraging, homesteading, folk arts, and disaster preparedness. Leah’s background is in literary and health research, public health. She has an obsession with herbs, art, and culture.
