Join us for Bats of the Night as we help celebrate International Bat Night!  International Bat Night is observed by 30 countries to spread awareness on bats and their habitat and to do some bat myth busting.  Our program has been designed to be fun and educational for the whole family.

Learn from our Bativists.  A Bativist is someone who advocates for bat conservation through learning about bats, teaching others about bats or creating change in their own backyards.  Explore the world’s only true flying mammal with John Lorson, Administrator of the Wayne Soil and Water Conservation District.  John’s presentation, The Bat: Superhero in Need of a Savior, will touch upon the bat’s evolution, unique adaptations and life history as well as the perils and survival pressures they face.   You won’t want to miss Ecotherapist and Naturalist Tracy Teuscher’ s interactive presentation, Beloved Bats – International Bat Night.  Tracy will share with us the bat’s unique pollination abilities, tips for supporting or creating bat habitat, what to do if you discover nesting bats, and so much more.

If you have never seen a live bat up close, this is your chance.  Stark Parks will be here to share with us their ambassador bat.  Ask all your bat questions about this incredible little mammal.  You might be surprised to learn how many foods we eat are pollinated by bats.

Our Enchanted Forest Bats will be handing out some of these delicious treats and will also be happy to pose for pictures with the kids.  There will be fun bat crafts for the kids to make and take home.   At the end of the day, you too will be a Bativist!
