Curiosity and observation are core elements of science. TWC is an incredible outdoor classroom where homeschool students can explore their environment, conduct hands-on investigations, and follow their curiosity with support from our naturalists and their peers. This program aims to foster inquiry skills, creativity, and community-building through nature exploration and fun!
Tree Exploration
Trees can be in-tree-guing! We’ll take a hike, and everyone will pick a tree to study up close, recording their observations and questions in their nature journal. We’ll follow our curiosity and learn more about the interactions between trees and their environment and use a field guide or dichotomous key to identify local trees.
Students will:
- Sharpen and practice observation skills.
- Record their observations, questions, and connections through field journaling.
- Learn how to identify trees, using a key or field guide.
- Learn about relationships between trees and other organisms.
Open to ages 9 and up, this program has limited capacity. All active participants must register.
