TWC Homeschool Series: The Nature of Science

Curiosity and observation are core elements of science. TWC is an incredible outdoor classroom where homeschool students can explore their environment, conduct hands-on investigations, and follow their curiosity with support from our naturalists and their peers. This program aims to foster inquiry skills, creativity, and community-building through nature exploration and fun!

Introduction to Nature Exploration

The goal of this first session is for students to become familiar with the habitats of TWC, observe and record patterns in nature, and test various investigation methods. Students will use their senses, naturalist field tools like field guides and hand lenses, and a nature journal as they explore, ask, and answer questions about the natural world.

Students will:

• Closely observe organisms or natural phenomena.
• Learn about ecosystems.
• Generate testable questions.
• Plan and conduct a short investigation.
• Reflect on results and next steps.

Open to ages 9 and up, this program has limited capacity. All active participants must register.
