Be part of something that lasts.
Join us for Roots of Renewal, a special volunteer event focused on reforesting the old homesite at Brewster Bog—an ecologically significant site in need of restoration. Together, we’ll plant a hundreds of native trees, including multiple species of oak, black gum, and tulip poplar, laying the groundwork for a thriving, biodiverse forest ecosystem.
This is more than just planting trees. It’s about rebuilding habitat, restoring soil health, and giving future generations of wildlife—and people—a chance to experience a resilient native forest.
Volunteers will also help install tree tubes to protect young seedlings from deer browse and ensure long-term survival.
Why it matters:
Brewster Bog is a unique and recovering landscape. By reintroducing native hardwoods, we’re helping to stabilize this ecosystem, support native pollinators and wildlife, and combat the long-term impacts of land degradation and climate stress.
What to Bring:
- Work gloves (We have plenty to share)
- Refillable water bottle
- Clothes appropriate for working outside.
We’ll provide:
- All tools and supplies
- Tree tubes and stakes
- On-site instruction and ecological context
Whether you’re a seasoned conservationist or a first-time volunteer, your time and energy will make a lasting impact.
