Join TWC for a fun-filled day of learning about birds that are active at night from owls that hunt to birds that migrate.
- 11 am, “Lights Out for Birds: Community Solutions for Avian Conservation” presented by Matt Shumar from OSU and Ohio Bird Initiative
- Matt will discuss how artificial light at night has become a major concern for migratory bird populations and the work of the Ohio Bird Conservation and its network of conservation organizations to address light and glass issues in urban areas.
- 12 pm – 1 pm, “Birds of Prey” presented by The Ohio Bird Sanctuary
- They’ll share with us two of their owls and a falcon. We’ll learn the differences between night hunters like owls and day hunters like the falcon and why dark matters to night birds. Everyone will have the chance to see these birds up close!
- 2 pm, “Gardening for Birds” presented by Jennifer White from the Stark County Ohio State University Extension.
- Jennifer will discuss plants we can put in our gardens to support our feathered friends.
Build a Birdhouse (additional fee of $15 per person or $13 per person for groups of 3 or more people)
Other kid-friendly activities from 10 am – 11 am and 1 pm – 3 pm are included in admission.
