Curiosity and observation are core elements of science. TWC is an incredible outdoor classroom where homeschool students can explore their environment, conduct hands-on investigations, and follow their curiosity with support from our naturalists and their peers. This program aims to foster inquiry skills, creativity, and community-building through nature exploration and fun!
Bird Exploration
By paying attention to the sounds and behaviors of birds, students are introduced to a whole new way to experience and observe what’s happening in their surroundings. We’ll practice listening for and identifying bird calls, thinking about and discussing the different messages birds might communicate, and mapping our observations of bird vocalizations and behaviors from a sit spot activity in the forest.
Students will:
- Increase their awareness of birds, their vocalizations, and behaviors.
- Build an understanding of how and why birds communicate.
Open to ages 9 and up, this program has limited capacity. All active participants must register.
