The Wilderness Center teaches over 15,000 school children each year various nature programs.

The Wilderness Center owns a total of 2,922 acres scattered in Stark, Wyne, Carroll, Tuscarawas, and Holmes Counties. There are six trails totaling about ten miles at the headquarters tract near Wilmot. Just south of Zoar, the Center has a trail open to the public at its 194 acre Zoar Woods property. The Center preserves open space by holding conservation easments, currently 1,360 acres.

The Wilderness Center also hosts numerous family programs, walks, starwatches, planetarium shows and other programs for the public. Most of the programs are free and open to the public.

There is no admission to visit The Wilderness Center's Interpretive Building featuring our fossil wall, interactive display room, trails, and animal observation area, although donations are accepted.

The Wilderness Center holds many special events throughout the year to include Enchanted Forest, Family Day, Nature Crafts Festival, FotoFest, Woodcarving Show, Moonlight Serenade, Native Plant Sale and Gardening Seminar, Concert Series and more.
